The US government infected hundreds of black men with syphilis. It sounds like a racist and unethical conspiracy, but it’s actually true. The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment was a study conducted by the US Public Health Service from 1932 to 1972, in which nearly 400 black men with syphilis were left untreated, without their informed consent, to observe the natural progression of the disease.
